IIAR, TRA Announce New Partnership to Advance Natural Refrigerants in Thailand

The Thai Refrigeration Association, representing Thailand’s refrigeration and air conditioning industry, and IIAR signed a memorandum of understanding outlining a recent collaboration, giving TRA access to IIAR’s suite of standards and making it one of IIAR’s global partners. The strategic partnership enables mutual support, facilitates technical and educational information exchange, and enhances regional training and outreach activities.

The collaboration with IIAR is an important milestone for TRA in creating new standards for the Thai refrigeration industry, especially in the natural refrigerant sector, which will help elevate capability, safety, and sustainability.

“TRA is confident that this joining of forces will help elevate Thai industry standards to not only advance our knowledge and provide access to IIAR’s standards but will also help us build a foundation of knowledge, safety and sustainability here in Thailand,” said Chusak Chankeitkong, president of the Thai Refrigeration Association.

“IIAR standards are widely referenced in international model codes, effectively making them code documents in many jurisdictions. This recognition is, in part, the result of IIAR’s longstanding collaboration with peer organizations across the globe through formal alliances,” said Yesenia Rector, Vice President, Education, Outreach and Events, IIAR. “We take pride in working closely with international partners and government entities to advance the safe, efficient, and sustainable use of natural refrigerants worldwide, and we’re thrilled to welcome the Thai Refrigeration Association to our global community.”

IIAR established Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) as a way to build partnerships with leading global associations. These strategic partnerships enable mutual support, facilitate technical and educational information exchange, and enhance regional training and outreach activities.

As part of the MOU, IIAR provides access to IIAR’s member benefits, including access to standards and educational materials that many global organizations have used to build a safety and standards framework for natural refrigerants within their own country.

Valuable Resources: Towards Practical Knowledge

IIAR’s greatest strength is being a world-class knowledge hub for the safe and efficient use of natural refrigerants. IIAR possesses numerous knowledge standards and resources that members, including TRA, can adapt and apply for the benefit of the Thai industry, including:

  • IIAR Standards: Globally recognized safety and design standards for ammonia and CO2 refrigeration systems, such as ANSI/IIAR 2, 4, 5, and 6, which relate to design, installation, operation, and maintenance.
  • Certificate Courses & Training Modules: Training courses covering various topics such as “Designing with Natural Refrigerants,” “Ammonia System Safety,” and “Energy Optimization in Industrial Refrigeration.”
  • Webinars & E-Books: A knowledge repository of video seminars and articles, covering everything from basic regulations to new technologies.
  • Annual IIAR Conference: An annual conference that gathers industry experts from all corners of the globe to serve as a forum for exchanging knowledge on Natural Refrigerants. It features presentations and discussions on interesting topics and the latest technological innovations.
  • Technical Papers Library: A collection of research and technical papers covering everything from fundamentals to advanced technologies.
