Technical presentation award winners

Each year, the IIAR recognizes the authors and presenters of the best technical paper presentations in English and international languages. The IIAR Award for Presentation Excellence, previously IIAR’s “Andy Ammonia Award,” was created to acknowledge the crucial role that education and information-sharing plays within the refrigeration industry, and to provide acknowledgement of the expertise that is generously shared by our volunteers. Award recipients also receive a free registration for next year’s conference, and perhaps most importantly the acknowledgement from their peers for a job well done.

TODD JEKEL

The selection of the award is based on evaluations provided by attendees on the conference app. The scores are tallied and weighted by attendance. This year had many excellent papers and numerous engaging presentations. The scoring was very close, but Todd Jekel (University of Wisconsin Madison) is the winner of IIAR’s 2024 Award for Presentation Excellence for the English presentation of his paper titled “Application and Considerations for Internal Relief in Industrial Refrigeration Systems.” Todd is a longtime contributor to NRF research projects, so it’s especially fitting for him to be presented with this year’s award.

CHRISTIAN ALI MUÑOZ DURAN

We also wish to acknowledge our colleagues who contribute non-English papers to the program. We wouldn’t be an international organization without their dedication to natural refrigerants. It is with great appreciation and pleasure that we also present Christian Ali Muñoz Duran (MR Braz & Associates, PLLC) with IIAR’s 2024 Award for Presentation Excellence for his paper titled “Paquetes de carga crítica de amoníaco DX versus sistema centralizados de amoníaco recirculado, como alternativas de solución para sistemas de refrigeración industrial.
