IIAR Releases New CO2-Focused Promotional Video
The International Institute of All-Natural Refrigeration announced that it has released a new video aimed at educating the public on the economic and environmental benefits of natural refrigerants, specifically CO2. The new video is also positioned as a B2B marketing tool, encouraging business leaders to visit iiar.org to learn more about natural refrigeration and how converting to natural refrigerants can help them save money and improve efficiency.
“One of IIAR’s main roles is to promote the efficiency, safety, and long-term sustainability of natural refrigerants, and this video helps us communicate those benefits to a broader audience,” said IIAR President Gary Schrift, adding that the AIM Act and other international HFC phase down laws and regulations will drive more interest in natural refrigerants in the coming years.
The newly released video highlights CO2 as a refrigerant, communicating the idea that it, like other natural refrigerants, does not contribute to global warming, unlike fossil fuels and high GWP synthetic refrigerants.
The video points out that CO2 is the baseline for global warming measurements with a value of one, while synthetic refrigerants have the potential to cause hundreds and thousands of times more global warming than CO2 which makes CO2 as a refrigerant more sustainable and much better for the environment.
The video positions CO2 as the ideal choice for commercial food refrigeration because it is more efficient at much lower temperatures. IIAR also uses the new video to position CO2 as a savvy business decision.
“Natural refrigerants like CO2 are cheaper, for one because the government does not put bans or tariffs on natural refrigerants,” said IIAR in the video. “Because they have ultra-low global warming and ozone depletion potential, more companies are converting to natural refrigerants like CO2 every year, because they are seeing [that choice] as a good business strategy.”
